In a thrilling game at Magnolia Field, the Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) Delta Devils secured a 13-11 victory over the Alcorn State University Braves on March 27, 2025. This win improves the Delta Devils' season record to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
The Delta Devils took an early lead in the first inning when Kendall Brookins doubled to center field, driving in Jace Jones and Kade Wood. They extended their advantage in the third inning with a series of hits, including a two-RBI double by Mac Floyd, bringing the score to 5-0.
Alcorn State responded in the fourth inning, capitalizing on MVSU errors and timely hitting to score six runs and take a 6-5 lead. However, the Delta Devils quickly answered in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run homer by Gunner Lakins, reclaiming the lead at 8-6.
The game remained competitive, with both teams exchanging runs over the subsequent innings. MVSU added to their tally with consistent offense, including contributions from Benny Hernandez and Eric Williams. Pitcher Logan Darnell earned the win for the Delta Devils, while Hunter Bell took the loss for the Braves.
