ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program may have found a gem in a late season addition as Meridian Community College transfer Xzayvion Childress made his presence felt despite a 62-48 setback opposite Florida A&M.

  • Childress made his Delta Devils debut on Saturday and provided a glimpse of his potential on Monday, leading the team in both points (14) and assists (3) in 32 minutes as a reserve.
 
  • Michael James, the usual suspect at the top of the scoresheet, tied the newcomer with 14 points in addition to grabbing five boards, swiping three steals, and dishing out a pair of dimes.
 
  • Daniel Mayfield captained the defensive end courtesy of a game-high four steals, collecting nine points and one of the club's two blocked shots as well.
