Cheboi Leads Mississippi Valley State Women’s Cross Country at Belhaven Invitational

JACKSON, Miss. — The Mississippi Valley State University women's cross-country team turned in a ninth-place team finish Saturday at the Belhaven Invitational, highlighted by a strong performance from sophomore Janet Cheboi.

Cheboi paced the Delta Devils over the 6,000-meter course, crossing the finish line in 27:13.4 to place 21st overall. Her performance led a Valley squad that totaled 229 points in the team standings.

Junior Mykala Carter was the second MVSU runner across the line, finishing 53rd with a time of 33:10.0. Fellow junior Faith Butler followed closely behind, placing 54th in 33:16.0.

Junior Ruramai Nyamakura added a 56th-place finish after clocking 33:43.4. Freshman London Johnson completed the scoring five for the Delta Devils, finishing 66th with a time of 41:01.2.

Sophomore Nyla Snead rounded out the Valley contingent, placing 67th after recording a time of 41:24.9.

MVSU's top five combined for a total time of 2:48:24 and an average time of 33:41.

Mississippi Valley State Individual Results Up Next
Mississippi Valley State continues its preparation for the postseason when the Devilettes return to competition at the Watson Cross Country Classic on Friday, Oct. 16. The meet will serve as Valley's final scheduled competition before the SWAC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 27.
