Diamond Devils' Top Performers:
Â
- Luke Richard was a warrior on the hill for Pitching Coach Zak Rasener, powering his way through six full innings of relief to earn the win, surrendering just two runs and zero walks across 24 batters faced to give the offense enough time to secure the comeback.
Â
- Of the six hits accrued, Jace Jones had two of them, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, two free passes, and a run scored out of the designated hitter role.
Â
- Valley drew 14 walks over the course of the contest as Tanner Aoki (3), Israel Ramos (2), Jones (2), and Ty Burns (2) all logged multiple bases on balls, combining to go 4-for-12 (.333) with nine walks, six runs scored and three RBIs.
Â
- Eric Williams crossed the dish in each of the three instances where he reached safely, once on a fielder's choice whereas the other two occasions were much more painful as he was plunked twice.
Â
- Johnny Escobalez put the finishing touches on the crazy nine-run ninth, coming on to pinch-run earlier in the frame before blasting a bases clearing double for the last two runs of the evening.
Â
Next:
 Â
- The Itta Bena Nine will attempt to come away with a winning record at the Jackson State Round Robin if they can defeat their other SWAC rivals from The Sip, the Alcorn Braves, when they meet at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
