Bats Come Alive In Game Two, UTM Sweeps Twin Bill

 
MARTIN, Tenn. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program registered 14 hits in the nightcap, seven going for extra bases, leading off the top of the ninth with a home run to cut the deficit to one, but the tying run never materialized as Tennessee-Martin took game one (12-1) and game two (8-7).

  • Ty Burns lofted a sacrifice fly into the left-center gap to score pinch-runner Aiden Meyer along with a single for the lone RBI of the opener.
 
  • Kendall Brookins got the small ball portion of the sport right, drawing two walks and stealing a base.
 
  • Matthew Cuzco whiffed a pair of Skyhawks in his one scoreless inning of work while Camden Farmer went three-up, three-down in his frame.
   
Diamond Devils' Top Performers (Game 2):
 
  • Brookins became the third player to notch a three-hit ballgame in the opening nine contests, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored, a walk, a steal, and a ribbie.
   
  • Aiden Meyer became the first Diamond Devil to launch multiple home runs on the year, coming up clutch with a solo bomb to open the ninth and Jace Jones hit his third career jack, also a one-run shot.
 
  • Clint Lafferty pitched to contact as he went the last four innings on the mound without a single strikeout or walk, surrendering only one run across a trio of hits as he nearly hung on long enough to earn a comeback victory.
