Ole Miss holds on to beat Devilettes, 62-60

Box Score OXFORD, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team was just one shot away from upsetting Ole Miss for the third time in school history Tuesday night.

The Devilettes (1-4) missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer as the time expired at the Tad Smith Coliseum in a 62-60 loss to the Lady Rebels (3-1).

Lenise Stallings 3-point shot from the corner bounced off the rim and Ole Miss escaped to extend the series lead to 12-2.

MVSU was down by double-digits, 55-40, with more than nine minutes left in the game before making a run at the Lady Rebels. Stallings made two three-pointers in a one-minute span and the lead was cut to 55-49 with 7:37 on the clock.

The Devilettes got even closer when Alia Frank made a fastbreak layup to cut the lead to three, 56-53, with 3:23 left on the clock.

Valley stayed on Ole Miss' heels and Khristina Clemons cut the Lady Rebels' lead to two points on a layup with 42 seconds remaining. Following a block by Frank, MVSU called a timeout and regrouped itself. But Stallings' potential game-winning shot was off as time winded down.

Frank led the Devilettes with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Stallings added 11 points while Joncyee Sanders had a season-high 10 assists.
