Crosby does it again, hits game-winner to give MVSU outright SWAC title

Box score

ITTA BENA -- Paul Crosby did it again.

And this time on national television.

With the final seconds ticking off the clock Monday night, Kevin Burwell drew two Texas Southern defenders and found Crosby open for the game-winning three-pointer.

Crosby's second-game winner in the last three days -- this one live on ESPNU -- gave the Delta Devils a 56-53 win over the Tigers and made them outright regular season SWAC champions.

"It's been a long time coming," said MVSU head coach Sean Woods. "This is for the Delta community. Everybody has a part in this."

The win gives the Delta Devils (16-11, 15-0) their 15th consecutive victory and keeps them undefeated in conference play.

Crosby's shot sent the crowd storming on the court as a national audience watched the Delta Devils keep the nation's third longest win streak in tact.

MVSU had its largest lead -- 10 points -- with 14:07 left in the game before the Tigers (10-15, 9-5 SWAC) rallied back. TSU tied the game at 53 with less than 30 seconds left on three Omar Strong free throws.

But Crosby's three-pointer shot down any chance of the Tigers stopping the Delta Devils from cutting down the nets.

The Lansing, Mich. native finished with another double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Terrence Joyner paced Valley with 17 points. Kevin Burwell contributed 10 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Strong led the Tigers with 15 points while Madarious Gibbs and D'Angelo Scott chipped in 12 each.
MVSU will be at Grambling State on Saturday for a 5:00 p.m. tipoff.
