Delta Devils fall to in-state foe Bulldogs

Box Score STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team fought hard for 40 minutes Monday, but it wasn't enough to overcome in-state foe Mississippi State at the Humphrey Coliseum.

The Bulldogs defeated the Delta Devils 94-72 in front of 6,759 fans as Valley fell to 1-3 on the season.

The Delta Devils shot well from the field -- 47.5 percent -- but the Bulldogs, led by Gavin Ware's 23 points and 11 rebounds, overpowered MVSU on the boards and made 19 of its 27 free throw attempts.

MSU led 44-29 at halftime and outscored Valey 50-43 in the final 20 minutes.

DeAngelo Priar led Valley with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists while Anthony McDonald added 12 points -- including a pair of 3-pointers. James Currington chipped in 10 points in 16 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs shot 52.2 percent and beat the Delta Devils on the boards, 41 to 27. Colin Berchert made two of MSU's five 3-pointers and finished the night with 14 points and four assists.
