Box Score TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team opened the season Saturday with a 87-53 loss to Villanova in the Glass City Tournament.
Jasymne Sanders paced the Devilettes with 17 points on 6-of-8 shot attempts, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. She was the lone Valley player in double-figures. DeRita Silas chipped in eight points off the bench and Joncyee Sanders added seven points and four assists.
Villanova led 39-23 at halftime and outscored Valley 48-30 in the second half.
Four Villanova players scored in double-digits with Lauren Buford leading the way with 18 points.
MVSU will be back in action Sunday against Toledo at 1:30 p.m. CST.
