Box Score ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team couldn't close out the regular season the way they wanted Thursday.
The Devilettes (15-14, 12-6 SWAC) were dealt a 63-51 loss by Arkansas Pine Bluff (11-17, 7-11 SWAC) at the Harrison HPER Complex in the final game of the regular season for both teams.
The Lady Lions, led by former MVSU coach Nate Kilbert, outscored MVSU 38-29 in the second half and limited the Devilettes to just 35.6 percent shooting on the night.
Khristina Clemons led Valley with a career-high 21 points. She converted on 9 of 14 shots and three of four free throws. Alia Frank added nine points and three blocks while Joncyee Sanders chipped in eight points and six assists.
Jenise Gentry, who made 10 of 12 free throw attempts, paced the Lady Lions with 16 points.
MVSU now looks forward to competing in the SWAC Basketball Tournament, set to take place March 12-16 in Garland, Texas at the Curtis Culwell Center.
