Box Score CLARKSDALE, Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State dropped its second straight game Saturday following a 66-56 loss to Texas Southern at The Pinnacle on the campus of Coahoma Community College.Â
Despite being down by as much as 16 in the second half, the Devilettes fought back and cut the Lady Tigers' lead to four with under four minutes left. Texas Southern, however, found its rhythm again and darted out to the victory.Â
We can't let teams get that kind of lead on us in a game," said MVSU head coach Elvis Robinson.Â
MVSU's Ashley Beals finished with a double-double -- her fourth of the season -- with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Canton native also had three blocks, one shy of tying her career-high.Â
Christina Reed, Joncyee Sanders and A'Shanti Weathers each chipped in nine points apiece for the Devilettes, which shot 32.8 percent.Â
Valley forced 25 TSU tunovers in the game.Â
"We have to be able to take advantage of turnovers," said Robinson. "It's good to cause a team to turn the ball over, but you also have to do something positive once you get the ball."Â
Jazzmin Parked led the Lady Tigers with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shots. TSU shot 44.7 percent and made 18-of-25 free throws.Â
The Devilettes will be honoring its three seniors Monday when the Devilettes host Prairie View A&M at 5:30 p.m. at the Leflore County Civic Center in its final home game of the season.Â
