BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team has been picked to finish eighth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's preseason media poll, as announced Monday.
Southern was selected first in the preseason poll. Jackson State was picked to finish second, Prairie View was picked to finish third, while Alabama State was selected fourth. Texas Southern was selected fifth in the preseason poll.
The final five teams in this season's poll included Grambling State (sixth), Alabama A&M (seventh), Mississippi Valley State (eighth), Alcorn State (ninth), and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (tenth).
MVSU is scheduled to open the regular season on the road at Ole Miss on Tuesday, Nov. 5 (game time is 6:00 p.m.). The Devilettes will host one exhibition game on Thursday, Oct. 31 against Stillman (game time is 6:00 p.m.).
