TEXAS SOUTHERN OVERVIEW: Texas Southern (11-13, 7-6) is 6-2 when playing on their home court. They ended a two-game losing streak defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, 62-49. The Lady Tigers are under the direction of fifth-year head coach, Johnetta Hayes-Perry, who has an overall 100-58 record at Texas Southern. Coach Hayes-Perry coached the Lady Tigers to a 19-13 overall record last season. This season, Texas Southern leads the SWAC in personal fouls per game (19.6) and scoring defense (62.1), while Niya Mitchell leads the conference in offensive rebounds per game (4), rebounds (238), and rebounds per game (10.3). Marquia Turner leads the conference in three-point field goals per game (2.00) and three-point field goal percentage (39.2). LAST TIME OUT: The Delta Devils are coming off two heartbreaking losses at home to Alcorn State (81-80) and Southern (67-46). Junior Erin Smith recorded a season-best 20 points hitting six three-pointers in the overtime loss to Alcorn State. Desiray Mosley (14), Kristy Parker (10), and LaKendra Bassett (10) also scored in double-figures against Alcorn.
