Itta Bena, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devil football team concluded the early signing period on last week and were able to add some key pieces to any already loaded roster. During this current pandemic, Coach Dancy and the entire football staff would like to thank the Office of Admissions and the Valley Family along with the previous schools of each student athlete for their diligent and continued support during the recruiting process.
"I'm very pleased with our early signing class, said Head Coach Vincent Dancy. We wanted to fill some needed positions but also get younger. Very pleased with our coaches working tirelessly during these unusual recruiting times. We signed four stellar athletes that will help this team get better."
"Defensive end Carl Jones and linebacker Ricky Williams are transfers who we think can come in and make an early impact for our team this season. Wide receiver's Cobie Bates and Charles "Chuck" Bradley are two talented freshman that will join us in the fall, but we believe they have the talent and skill set to come in and play as freshman, Coach Dancy concluded."

Charles "Chuck" Bradley

Wide Receiver | 6'6 | 200 | Deland, FL (Deland High School)
"Chuck" is a very explosive wide receiver with excellent ball skills. As a Junior he finished 2nd All – Area with over 600 yards and 5 touchdowns. During his senior season he had over 400 yards receiving during a seven a game season. He helped lead Deland High School to 5-2 overall record this season. "Chuck" lettered in two other sports, Track and Basketball.
Cobie Bates

Wide Receiver | 5'9 |170 | Jacksonville, FL (Oak leaf High School)
Cobie is a very shifty, smooth and speedy wide receiver. Cobie helped Oak Leaf High School to 7-4 record this season. His junior year Cobie had 1500 yards All-purpose with 14 Touchdowns. As a senior Cobie had an explosive shorten season with 1100 yards All-purpose accounting for 9 Touchdowns. Bates was Florida's 6A player of the year as Junior. He was also 1st Team all-area his junior and senior season.
Ricky Williams Jr.

Linebacker | 6'3 | 210 | Kennesaw, GA (Harrison High School/ Southern Illinois)
6A All-State and First-Team All-Region, All-County, All-Metro his senior year. Williams led the state in tackles his senior year with 177 and recorded 21.0 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, 10 pass break-ups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Williams set the school record for sacks in a game with 4.0 and helped Harrison High School break a five-year playoff drought.
Carl Jones

Defensive Lineman | 6'2 | 260 | Greenwood, MS (Greenwood High School / Mississippi Delta)
Carl is a very explosive pass rusher. He was highly recruited coming out of high school before signing with Jackson State. On the Gridiron at Greenwood high school, he led the state of Mississippi in Sacks. Carl comes to Valley after spending a year at Mississippi Delta Community College.
