HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program will spend its Black Friday weekend in "The Burg" where it will tangle with the Redhawks from Southeast Missouri State on Friday (3 p.m.) and the host Lady Eagles of Southern Miss (11 a.m.).

Mississippi Valley State Overview
 
MVSU has been elite when it comes to free throw shooting in 2021-22, converting at the eight-best rate in the country at an 84.6% clip.
 
Ronni Williams currently fronts the entire conference, making 8-of-9 (88.9%) of her freebies while also leading the club with nine assists and a 37.5% field goal percentage.
 
Mikayla Etienne and Zakiya Mahoney are tied for a share of the Delta Devilettes' scoring lead with each averaging 11.3 points per game. Mahoney is fifth in the league for free throw percentage at 80% and Etienne ranks second in the SWAC a 2.33 steals a contest.
 
Sarah Moore has been the top rebounder for Coach Walker-Johnson's club, going for 6.7 boards per night and corralling 20 rebounds in total.
 
Scouting The Opponent: Southeast Missouri State Redhawks
 
SEMO took its season opener opposite Health Sciences & Pharmacy of St. Louis but has since dropped three straight to Stephen F. Austin, #12 Texas and Arkansas State.
 
The Redhawks were pegged to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference after last season's 15-11, 13-7 OVC mark and is a veteran-laden group with four seniors returning.
 
MVSU shooters will have to be wary when driving to the basket against Shymaryia Christopher who has averaged a rejection a game so far.
 
Scouting The Opponent: Southern Miss Lady Eagles
 
Southern Miss has opened the campaign strong with victories over William Carey, Louisiana-Monroe, and Samford despite being picked 13th in a 14-team Conference USA.
 
Current C-USA Player of the Week Dominique Davis has been hot of late for the Lady Eagles, ranking second in the league for both points (17.5) and assists (4.8) on top of two steals per game.
 
Brikayla Gray has played the role of floor general to a T in the early going, dishing out 12 assists compared to just two turnovers, good for the seventh-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the NCAA at 6.00.
