ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University athletics program recognizes football's Abdural Lee and cross country's Toni Carter as the MVSU student-athletes of the week.
 
Lee, a junior defensive back from Starkville, Mississippi, was the best player on the field for most of Saturday's game at Alabama State, intercepting a pair of Hornets pass attempts in the first half. The Copiah-Lincoln Community College transfer also topped the Delta Devils defense in tackles with six takedowns including five solos.
 
Carter, a senior from Los Angeles, California, impressed in her first ever 6K race, running the fastest time among the participating Devilettes of 30:57.3 during the regular season finale at the Blazer Classic.  

Football hosts its annual Homecoming game against Bethune-Cookman at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and cross country heads to the Sunshine State for the 2022 SWAC Championships on Monday morning in Tallahassee, Florida.
