JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University football program opens conference play on Saturday at 1 p.m. versus the #11 Jackson State Tigers inside Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
All Valley State fans attending the game are encouraged to wear white in support of the Delta Devils and to keep the body from absorbing to much of the heat. White clothing is the best to wear to reflect sunlight and the temperatures are expected to be in the low-90s.
Prior to kickoff, Jackson State University will be providing free bottled waters in the tailgate areas outside the stadium and the quantity of water sold in the stadium has been doubled.
For any former or active first responders that choose to make the trip to the capital city, JSU is offering free admission for all police, fire, medical and military personnel who are either in uniform upon arrival or present a valid ID.
Additionally, fans are asked to take the following precautions to avoid heat exhaustion:
- Drink plenty of water prior to sun exposure. (Do not wait until you're thirsty to drink)
- Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing and/or a wide-brimmed hat.
- Wear sunscreen.
- Take precautions with certain medications
