CLINTON, Miss. - The Mississippi Valley State University cross country program had 80% of its men's runners clock in with new personal-low times on Saturday morning at Choctaw Trails.
The Delta Devils finished in front of Tougaloo, Jarvis Christian, and LeMoyne-Owen during the 8K while the Devilettes better than Jarvis Christian and LeMoyne-Owen as well in the 6K.
Gabriel Crawford led the Valley State men for the second consecutive meet, running a personal-best time of 30:12.5. The second-best time belonged to
Elijah Edney with a personal record of 30:55.0 while third among the MVSU men was
Jacob Bell's 32:47.5. The other two student-athletes to PR were
Elijah Johnson (37:23.9) and
Stephen Banks (39:18.7).
Rickeyshia White (33:55.9),
Zariyah Moss (33:57.2), and
Terreka Gibson (34:00.4) all crossed the finish line within about five seconds of each other plus
Chanelle Houston (36:41.1) not far behind them.
Shy'Kerria Curtis wrapped up the day with a 47:07.5 showing in her first time participating in a 6K race.
Both the men's and women's teams will take nearly a month off before its final meet before the SWAC Championships, next appearing at the Blazer Classic on October 14 on the Montevallo Cross Country Course.
