MVSU Opens Home SWAC Play Against Prairie View A&M

ITTA BENA, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State men's and women's basketball team will return home to the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex on Saturday, January 7, to continue SWAC play against Prairie View A&M. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. CST. 

Mississippi Valley State Devilettes (2-11, 0-2 SWAC) 

The Devilettes return to home court, 0-2 SWAC, after a challenging opening SWAC play on the road against Alabama State, 76-65, and Alabama A&M, 77-62. 

Zaria Harleaux opened SWAC play with a double-double against Alabama State Lady Hornets. Harleaux scored 21 points, collected 11 rebounds, and registered two assists. She is currently ranked first in the SWAC in rebounding, averaging 8.2 rebounds per outing. 

Fellow Devilette, Krisen Hunt delivered a high performance as she was the leading scorer against Alabama A&M. Hunt scored 22 total points. She also recorded four assists, a rebound, and a steal. She is currently ranked ninth in the SWAC in assists, averaging 2.4 assists per game.  

Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (1-15, 0-2 SWAC) 

The Delta Devils opened SWAC play, 0-2 SWAC, on the road against Alabama State, 70-61, and Alabama A&M, 75-68. 

Against Alabama State, Terry Collins and Rayquan Brown were the leading scorers for MVSU. Collins recorded a total of 16 points, while Brown scored 14 total points. Collins is currently ranked fourth in the SWAC in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game. 

Against Alabama A&M, Brown had a high-performance game as he finished the game with a total of 22 points. To add, he registered five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Fellow teammates Alvin Stredic and Tyronn Mosley contributed to the scoreboard for the Delta Devils as well as leading scorers. Stredic contributed 16 points to the scoreboard for MVSU. In addition, he recorded five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Mosley was perfect from beyond the arc, making 3-for-3 of his three-point attempts. He recorded 13 points, three assists, two blocks, and a rebound.
