ITTA BENA, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State men's and women's basketball team looks to host Texas Southern on Monday, January 9, as SWAC play continues at home in the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. CST.
Mississippi Valley State Devilettes (2-12, 0-3 SWAC)
The Devilettes dropped SWAC home opener against Prarie View A&M on Saturday night, 92-67. MVSU prepares for Texas Southern (0-14, 0-3 SWAC) next after freshman shooting guard Micah Gray recorded 41 points in an 89-71 loss at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday afternoon.
Zaria Harleaux, Kerrigan Johnson, and Krisen Hunt were the leading scorers for the Devilettes.
Harleaux recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block. Johnson registered 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one block. Hunt contributed 11 points to the scoreboard for the Devillettes. In addition, she recorded six rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and one assist.
Harleaux is currently ranked first in the SWAC in rebounding. She averages 8.1 rebounds per game. Johnson is currently ranked fifth in the SWAC in assists (2.8 assists per game).
Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (1-16, 0-3 SWAC)
The Delta Devils dropped SWAC home opener against Prarie View A&M on Saturday night, 67-60. MVSU prepares for Texas Southern (4-12, 0-3 SWAC) next after a road loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 70-66.
Rayquan Brown led the Delta Devils in scoring. He scored 16 points against the Panthers. In addition, Brown registered three rebounds and one assist. Tyronn Mosley contributed 12 points to the scoreboard for MVSU. He also recorded two rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Kadar Waller registered 10 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist.
