Devilettes to host Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M this Saturday and Monday

ITTA BENA, MS - The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team will host Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M this weekend.

When: Saturday, January 20, 4:00 p.m. and Monday, January 22, 5:30 p.m.

Mississippi Valley State Devilettes
 
MVSU will enter the game 1-3 in SWAC play.

The Devilettes enter the weekend coming off a 21-point comeback road win over Texas Southern.
 
The Devilettes enter the game with the SWAC's fourth leading scorer in Sh'Diamond McKnight (14.2 ppg) after she scored 21 points at Texas Southern last Saturday. Also, Leah Turner scored 16 points and Jaylia Reed scored 12 points in the win over Texas Southern.
 
Defensively, Sh'Diamond McKnight ranks 18th in the nation and leads the SWAC with steals per game (2.9). Amberly Brown ranks 5th in the SWAC with blocks per game (1.5).
 
 
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
 
Bethune-Cookman will enter the game 1-2 in SWAC play.
 
Chanel Wilson is leading the Wildcats in scoring with an average of 12.8 points per game. Wilson is also ranked 3rd in the SWAC and leads the team in assists (3.8 apg) Behind her are Chanelle McDonald (10.7 ppg) and Kayla Clark (9.4 ppg) in scoring.

Kayla Clark leads Bethune-Cookman and is ranked 3rd in the SWAC with rebounds (7.8 per game), as she also leads the team with 14 blocked shots.

Kerrighan Dunn and D'Shantae Edwards are ranked 3rd and 5th in the SWAC in steals per game. Dunn averaging 2.4 spg, and Edwards averaging 2.1 spg.
 
 
Florida A&M Rattlers
 
FAMU will enter this weekend 1-2 in SWAC play.
 
Ahriahne Grizzle ranks 2nd in the SWAC and leads the Rattlers in scoring (17.0 ppg). Grizzle also shoots 44.0 percent from the floor. Behind her are Olivia Delancy (10.7 ppg) and Nashani Gilbert (9.3) in scoring.
 
Defensively, Ivet Subirats ranks 4th in the SWAC in steals (2.1 spg) and Ahriahne Grizzle ranks 7th in SWAC in steals with (2.0 spg).
