THE DELTA | Mississippi Valley State volleyball opened its home schedule with a four-set victory over Wiley University before falling to Nicholls in the finale of the Mississippi Valley State Tri-Match on Saturday inside the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex.

The Delta Devils defeated Wiley 3-1 with set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-17. MVSU concluded the event with a 3-0 setback against Nicholls, 14-25, 16-25 and 10-25.

Game One: MVSU 3, Wiley 1
Mississippi Valley State used a balanced offensive attack and a strong presence at the net to secure its first victory of the season.

Brooklyn Brunt and Taylor Wooten paced the Delta Devils with 10 kills apiece. Brunt recorded a .240 hitting percentage and added three blocks, while Wooten contributed 12 digs and two solo blocks.

Hannah St. Croix finished with eight kills on a team-best .250 hitting percentage to go along with three blocks. Aniyah Moore added seven kills and a match-high six blocks, including two solo stops. Aubrie Walker totaled six kills, 12 digs, two blocks and one service ace.

The Delta Devils finished with 46 kills, 45 assists, 71 digs and 13 total team blocks. Erin Mims directed the offense with 21 assists and two service aces, while Kameryn Browne distributed 18 assists and collected 10 digs.

Defensively, Ashlynn Hawkins led MVSU with 15 digs. Wooten and Walker followed with 12 digs each.

After claiming the opening set, MVSU saw Wiley even the match with a 25-23 win in the second frame. The Delta Devils responded by edging the

Wildcats 25-23 in the third set before closing the match with a convincing 25-17 victory.

Game Two: Nicholls 3, MVSU 0
MVSU faced a strong Nicholls attack in the second match of its doubleheader. The Colonels hit .322 and recorded 37 kills in the three-set victory.
Moore led the Delta Devils with five kills on nine attempts for a .444 hitting percentage. She also recorded two solo blocks to finish with a team-high seven points.

Walker and Wooten added four kills apiece, while St. Croix and Brunt each finished with three. Mims handed out nine assists and collected five digs, while Browne contributed seven assists.

The Delta Devils battled through four ties and two lead changes during the second set, but Nicholls pulled away to take the frame, 25-16. The Colonels completed the sweep with a 25-10 decision in the third set.

Mississippi Valley State finished the day with a 1-1 record in its first home competition of the 2026 season.
