Box Score CHICAGO -- The 2012-13 season didn't begin the way Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team would have wanted.

The Devilettes suffered a 93-59 loss to Dayton in the first game of the Maggie Dixon Classic at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

Davina Jefferson led MVSU with 15 points while Alia Frank added 13 off the bench. Joncyee Sanders chipped in 12 points for a Devilette team that shot 31.1 percent from the field.

Dayton led for the entire game and held a 42-26 halftime advantage.

MVSU will face Nicholls State on Saturday in the consolation game. Nicholls lost 87-57 to No. 25 Depaul on Friday.
