Box Score STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Mississippi Valley State men's basketball opened the season Friday night on the road at one of the toughest teams in the nation.
The Delta Devils put up an valiant effort, but No. 8-ranked Oklahoma State scored 63 first half points on the way to a 117-62 victory over Valley at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
MVSU did get a couple of notable performances from a pair of newcomers -- DeAngelo Priar and Anthony McDonald. Priar led Valley with 19 points and six rebounds while McDonald chipped in 16 points.
Priar, a Tchula native who transferred from Holmes Community College, made 6-of-11 shots from the field and converted 7-of-12 free throws. McDonald, a junior guard who transferred from MIssissippi Delta Community College, made four shots -- including three from behind the three-point line.
Meanwhile, Jordan Washington added eight points off the bench for the Delta Devils.
MVSU shot 33.3 percent from the field and made 22-of-38 shots from the charity stripe.
Valley will be on the road at Texas A&M on Monday for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN3.
