Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Narrow losses have been a constant struggle for Mississippi Valley State. And Saturday night was no different as the Delta Devils fell 80-77 at Prairie View, marking its fifth conference loss by five points or less.

Davon Usher poured in 28 points for MVSU (4-20, 4-10 SWAC), which fought its way back from a 19-point second half deficit. Ervin Thomas recorded first second double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Darryl Marshall and Blake Ralling chipped in 10 points apiece.

Jourdan DeMuynck led Prairie View (11-15, 6-7 SWAC) with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

Both teams struggled from the free throw line with MVSU shooting 62.9 percent (22 of 35) and the Panthers making 47.8 percent (11 of 23) of its shots from the charity stripe.

MVSU shot 34.7 percent while Prairie View converted 50.8 percent of its shots from the field.

The Delta Devils will be on the road at Texas Southern on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
