Box Score ITTA BENA -- It wasn't the way Mississippi Valley State had hoped to end its season.
The Delta Devils witnessed Arkansas-Pine Bluff hit two buzzer beaters Thursday night, including a stepback 3-pointer from Terrell Kennedy that sent the game into overtime.
The Golden Lions (16-14, 15-3 SWAC) outscored the Delta Devils (5-23, 5-13 SWAC) 13-5 in overtime and marched on to a 78-70 victory at the Harrison HPER Complex.
Three MVSU players fouled out, including forwards Blake Ralling and Ervin Thomas.
"We didn't have the bodies late (in the game) that they had," said MVSU coach Chico Potts. "We didn't finish the game. I think we did enough to win the game, obviously. But we didn't finish the game."
MVSU led 65-62 with seven seconds left after Cortland Henry converted one of two free throws. But UAPB stormed down the court and sent the game into overtime using an unlikely 3-pointer from Terrell Kennedy.
And Valley went cold after regulation, shooting just 14 percent in overtime.
"It just boiled down to, we didn't make the plays to be successful and win the game tonight," said Potts.
With the Delta Devils unable to partcipate in the SWAC Tournament this season, it marks the end of the road for MVSU.
Davon Usher led Valley with 17 points while Darryl Marshall and Marcus Johnson added 12 each. Matt Smith had eight points while Ervin Thomas chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.
Davon Haynes and Terrell Kennedy led UAPB with 15 points each.
