Box Score GREENWOOD, Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State won its third straight game Monday following a 75-67 win over Grambling State at the Leflore County Civic Center.
MVSU (7-13, 4-5 SWAC) has now won four of its last five games.
The Delta Devils used a balanced scoring attack led a trio of players. Anthony McDonald, Jeffrey Simmons and Jordan Washington had 12 points apiece for the Delta Devils. James Currington added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for a MVSU team that shot 50.9 percent.
"I'm proud of my guys," said MVSU head coach Chico Potts. "We finished it. Now, we can enjoy it for the night and get ready for the next game."
The Delta Devils topped the Tigers in the rebounding category 43 to 30.
Antwan Scott paced GSU with 24 points.
GSU cut the lead to 67-62 with two minutes remaining before the Delta Devils distanced themselves. Currington converted a pair of important free throws and a fast break dunk by Simmons gave Valley a 73-64 lead with 35 seconds left that brought the crowd to their feet.
Valley will be back at the Leflore County Civic Center Saturday to host Alabama State at 5:30 p.m.
