NEW ORLEANS -- For the second straight year, Mississippi Valley State's Daniel Kibet was named the Most Outstanding Runner at the SWAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday at Tad Gormley Stadium. 

Kibet earned 33 of MVSU's 104 points as Valley finished fourth at the event. Kibet won the 5000 Meter Run (16:17.87) and the 10,000 Meter Run (34:03.73). He accounted for two of MVSU's three first place finishes, with freshman Romello Nalepa, of Stone Mountain, Ga., taking the top spot in the Men's 3000 Meter Steeplechase (9:56.79). 

In the Men's 10,000 Meter Run, Felix Kiprop finished behind Kibet with a time of 34:04.89 while Victor Chesang (36:06.32) took the ninth spot in the same event. Kiprop and Chesang also had top 10 finishes in the Men's 5000 Meter Run with Kiprop taking third and Chesang placing eighth. 

Meanwhile, Jatarius Harris earned second place in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 10:31 while teammate Deion Reid (10:47) was third. 

In his final competition of his career, senior Micah Hill placed sixth in the Discus Throw (44.69m) and second in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 50.12m. 

Valley earned the top four spots in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with Nalepa taking first while Kibet came behind him with a second place finish (10:03.82). Also, Jose Serrano (10:09.01) placed third and Kiprop (10:14.84) was fourth.
