HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University track & field program has possibly its best overall showing of both the indoor and outdoor seasons on Saturday at the Southern Miss Invitational.

Men's Top Performers:

• The longer distance races produced high finishers for the Green and White with Bernardo McGraw taking home fifth place in the 3000m steeplechase (11;52.61 - PR) and Timothy Rotich scoring eighth during the 1500m (4:14.11) while Amandalo Kane (2:15.39) PR'd his 800m on top of McGraw (4:32.25) going for a new best time in the 1500m as well.

• Allen Jenkins tied McGraw for the highest placement by also grabbing fifth in the long jump (6.84m - PR) whereas Jusden Culpepper lanced in the top-ten for his 13.39 meter triple jump (PR).

• Of the six runners in the 100m, all of them set personal records including Khalon Christie (10.87), John Eubanks (11.06), D'Lano Blevins (11.21), Lanauda Westmoreland (11.34), Joey Davis (11.55), and Justus Snapp (11.69).
  • Christie also produced a new low time in the 200 meters at 22.14.

• Other personal bests include Jadarius Townes' javelin (39.06m) and discus (38.66m), plus Culpepper's long jump (5.94m).

Women's Top Performers:

• The only student-athlete who "scored" on the women's side was Cayden Fluellen by producing a 1:08.05 in the 400 hurdles to snag eighth.

• Personal records fell by the wayside often in the rubbing events including Senyce Rene's 100m (12.45), Jasmine Mackey's 400m (1:00.70), Janet Cheboi's 3000m (12:43.05), plus Nyla Snead's 100m hurdles (15.10).

• The sole lady in the field to register a PR was Yvelisse Zamora at a distance of 23.17 meters as part of the discus throw.

• Familiar territory awaits on Friday April 10 and Saturday, April 11 as the Devils compete in the Pelican Relays on the campus of Southern University.
