HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University track & field program has possibly its best overall showing of both the indoor and outdoor seasons on Saturday at the Southern Miss Invitational.
The Basics:
Men's Top Performers:
- The longer distance races produced high finishers for the Green and White with Bernardo McGraw taking home fifth place in the 3000m steeplechase (11;52.61 - PR) and Timothy Rotich scoring eighth during the 1500m (4:14.11) while Amandalo Kane (2:15.39) PR'd his 800m on top of McGraw (4:32.25) going for a new best time in the 1500m as well.
- Allen Jenkins tied McGraw for the highest placement by also grabbing fifth in the long jump (6.84m - PR) whereas Jusden Culpepper lanced in the top-ten for his 13.39 meter triple jump (PR).
- Other personal bests include Jadarius Townes' javelin (39.06m) and discus (38.66m), plus Culpepper's long jump (5.94m).
Women's Top Performers:
- The only student-athlete who "scored" on the women's side was Cayden Fluellen by producing a 1:08.05 in the 400 hurdles to snag eighth.
- The sole lady in the field to register a PR was Yvelisse Zamora at a distance of 23.17 meters as part of the discus throw.

- Familiar territory awaits on Friday April 10 and Saturday, April 11 as the Devils compete in the Pelican Relays on the campus of Southern University.
