BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi Valley State's Scholasticah Kemei was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week following her performance at the Mississippi College Invitational.
 
The Devilettes' top runner continued her winning ways on the trails, posting her third win of the season – and third consecutive win – during the Mississippi College Invitational. Kemei won the women's 5K with a time of 17:51.64, a new collegiate-best for the reigning SWAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year.
 
Kemei and her Devilette teammates will defend their 2017 conference championship at the 2018 SWAC cross country championship meet on Monday, Oct. 22, in Clinton, Miss.
