CLINTON, Miss. - The Mississippi Valley State University cross country teams saw two of its student-athletes barely miss out on top-50 finishes on Choctaw Trails in the Watson Collegiate Open.
The Delta Devilettes had this week's top finisher in Alice Kamutai, running the 6K in 26:04.2 to fall just shy of the top-50 at 51st.
She was the only woman in Green and White to make the first 100 to cross the finish line however as Jazmin Barber (28:24.1), Rickeyshia White (33:18.7), Imani Walker (34:45.6), and Chanelle Houston (35:37.3) placed 108th, 147th, 154th, and 156th, respectively.
On the Delta Devils end of the spectrum, Stanley Rop had the best performance for the second meet in-a-row, posting a personal-low 27:38.2 for 58th place to lead the men in the 8K.
Jacob Bell and Bob Francois each notched personal records with times of 32:04.7 (133rd) and 33:30.6 (144th), respectively.
The two other student-athletes for MVSU were Justin Cooper (30:44.1, 117th) and Chad Chandler (37:10.4, 157th).
