BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 27, 2019) - Mississippi Valley State's freshman runner Christopher Bailey was named the SWAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference Wednesday.

Bailey won the 400-meter dash at the Mississippi State-hosted Al Schmidt/Bulldog Relays with a personal-best time of 46.57 seconds. Additionally, the freshman set a personal-best mark in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 21.58 seconds.

In the 400m, the Atlanta, Ga. native ranks sixth in the nation and first in the SWAC.

MVSU track and field competes this weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational on Saturday, March 30.
