Itta Bena, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State Men and Women Indoor Track and Field team began their 2021 campaign with a trip to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the KMS Open. The meet took place at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama. Over 50 colleges and universities were represented in the meet that took place on Sunday, January 31st.

"I was very proud of both teams' overall efforts", said Head Track & Field Coach Alonzo Banks. "The focus for this first meet was for them to compete hard and give their all in each event. I wanted them to enjoy running, jumping, and throwing again in competition since it's been over a year since they last competed. We learned a lot about ourselves as a team and we will build on our strengths as we move forward to our next meet".
