MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Mississippi Valley State University cross country program began the 2022 regular season on Saturday morning as the men ran the 8K and the women participated in the 5K at Shelby Farms.
Gabriel Crawford was the top finisher for the Delta Devils' debut meet with a time of 31:10.1, plus
Elijah Edney (32:39.3), and
Jacob Bell (33:51.9) composing the top-three men's runners.
Elijah Johnson (38:24.3) and
Stephen Banks (41:48.4) rounded out the scoring on the day.
The women were fronted by
Toni Carter's 27:12.3 finish time, followed by runner-up
Terreka Gibson at 27:50.4 and third best
Rickeyshia White (28:54.7).
Zariyah Moss (29:41.7) and
Shy'Kerria Curtis (37:08.4) each made their collegiate cross country debuts to go along with
Chanelle Houston (29:42.7) sandwiched in between.
Head Coach
Alonzo Banks' squads head to familiar stomping grounds next Saturday for the Watson XC Classic hosted by Mississippi College at the former site of the SWAC Championships, Choctaw Trails.
