ITTA BENA, Miss.-Â The Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. to continue conference play against Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Saturday, January 14. Tip-off set for 4 p.m.
Mississippi Valley State (2-16, 1-3 SWAC)Â will travel to Florida after a SWAC home opener split against Prairie View A&M (67-60) and Texas Southern (71-67). The Delta Devils collected its first SWAC win under Head Coach George Ivory's era against Texas Southern on Monday evening.Â
Against PVAMU, Rayquan Brown led the Delta Devils in scoring against the Panthers; he scored 16 points. In addition, Brown registered three rebounds and one assist. Against TSU, Brown and Kadar Waller both scored 16 points for MVSU. Waller recorded 16 points, one assist, and one rebound while Brown recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal.Â
Bethune-Cookman (5-11, 1-2 SWAC) hosts MVSU for its SWAC home opening weekend after losing two on the road in Louisiana against Grambling State (70-76) and Southern (102-75).Â
Mississippi Valley State's last match-up against Bethune-Cookman last season was on January 15 at home. B-CU escaped MVSU by two points, 62-60.
