Devilettes Travels to Daytona Beach to Play B-CU

ITTA BENA, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team seek improvement as the Devilettes travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. to continue conference play against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, January 14. Tip-off set for 2:00 p.m.

Mississippi Valley State (2-13, 0-4 SWAC) Devilettes drops two during SWAC home opener against Prairie View A&M (92-67) and Texas Southern (77-61). 

Against PVAMU, Zaria Harleaux, Kerrigan Johnson, and Krisen Hunt were the leading scorers for the Devilettes. Harleaux recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block. Johnson registered 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one block. Hunt contributed 11 points to the scoreboard for the Devillettes. In addition, she recorded six rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and one assist. 

Against TSU, Harleaux recorded her second double-double of SWAC play with MVSU. She finished the contest with 27 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, two assists, and one block. Fellow Devilette, Hunt contributed 11 points to the scoreboard for the Devilettes. In addition, she registered six rebounds and four assists. 

Harleaux is currently ranked first in rebounding, collecting 8.4 rebounds per game. In addition, she's currently ranked tenth in the SWAC in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game. 

Bethune-Cookman (3-10, 2-1 SWAC) hosts MVSU after a split on the road in Louisana against Grambling State (63-46) and Southern (65-63). 

Against Grambling State, Chanel Wilson helped the Wildcats pull away from the Lady Tigers on Monday evening by contributing 18 points to the scoreboard. Wilson is currently ranked second in the SWAC in scoring, averaging 18 points per game. 

Mississippi Valley State's last match-up against Bethune-Cookman last season was on January 15 at home. B-CU pulled away from MVSU, 78-74.
