ITTA BENA, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State men's and women's basketball team looks to host Alabama A&M on Saturday, February 11, as conference play continues at home in the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. CST.
Theme night: Pink Out (Breast Cancer Awareness)
Mississippi Valley State Devilettes (2-20, 0-11 SWAC)
The Devilettes returned to the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex after a two-game loss on the road against Jackson State (85-63) and Alcorn (74-51).
The Devilettes' last contest against the Lady Bulldogs (10-11, 8-3) was on January 4 at the start of conference play in Huntsville, Ala. AAMU topped MVSU, 77-62.
MVSU's Zaria Harleaux is currently ranked second in the SWAC in rebounds, with 175 total. She collects eight rebounds per contest to give the Devilettes a second chance at scoring.
AAMU's Jayla Cody will be defending the inside for the Lady Bulldogs. She is currently ranked third in the SWAC in blocks, with 41 total.
Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (3-22, 2-9 SWAC)
The Delta Devils return to home court after splitting on the road with a second-half comeback victory against Jackson State (82-78) and coming up short to Alcorn (81-70).
Terry Collins was the leading scorer for the Delta Devils with 21 points. He also registered six rebounds, five steals, and four assists. He earned SWAC Men's Basketball Impact Player of the Week and MVSU Athlete of the Week for his contributions to the game. Against Alcorn, Collins scored a game-high of 25 points. In addition, he registered seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Collins is currently ranked second in the SWAC in points, with 364 points total. He scores 14.6 points per outing. In addition, he is ranked sixth in steals in the conference, with 38 total. He collects 1.52 steals per game.
Fellow Delta Devil Rayquan Brown is currently ranked second in the SWAC in double-doubles with four total.
The Delta Devils' last contest against the Bulldogs (9-15, 5-6) was on January 4 at the start of conference play in Huntsville, Ala. AAMU topped MVSU, 75-68.
AAMU's Garrett Hicks is currently ranked third in the SWAC in points scored per game, averaging 14.3 points per contest. Hicks has also ranked steals (5th) in the conference with 39 total steals. Fellow Bulldog Messiah Thompson is ranked third in the conference in steals, with 40 total steals.
