Rain-Shortened Event Yields Positive Results For Track & Field

CLINTON, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University track & field program withstood four separate weather delays at the Mike McMillan Twilight Invitational but still found a way to garner a trio of podium spots.

Men's Top Performers:
 
  • All three podium spots came from the men's side:
    • The 4x100m relay quartet earned third place with its time of 42.38 seconds, a top-50 allotment among HBCUs so far in the outdoor season.
    • Jusden Culpepper set a personal-record in the triple jump via a distance of 13,67 meters, also claiming third.
    • Kristian Miller wrapped up the bronze medal showings in the shot put at 11.93 meters.
   
  • Miller was the last one to score by coming in sixth place during the discus (35.89m) whereas Culpepper and Henry Espy both slid into the top-ten of the long jump by measuring 6.10m and 6.07m, respectively.
 
Women's Top Performers:
   
  • Thomas also laid claim to the number seven slot at the discus throw with a distance of 35.41m while Snead (5.15m) and Jaazaniah Calvert (4.94m) each came away with points in the long jump.
 
  • Janet Cheboi ran the furthest distance of any competitor donning the Green and White on Friday, taking part in the 1500m run by tallying ninth in a speed of 5:30.59.

  • Head Coach Michael Snapp and company head back to Stark Vegas one more time before SWAC Championship season, spending Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1 on the campus of Mississippi State for the Maroon and White Tune Up.
