BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State men's track team kicked off the 2019 SWAC Indoor Championships with a pair moving on to the 400m and one in the 200m finals Friday.
Freshman Christopher Bailey and senior Laval Davis finished first and third, respectively in the men's 400m preliminaries. Bailey had the fastest time out of 28 runners clocking 47.81, setting a personal record time. Davis also won his heat with a time of 48.09 running the third fastest time out of the bunch.
In the 200m prelims, Davis won his heat and sits first heading into the finals with a time of 21.59.
The men's distance medley team of sophomore Jaleel Turner along with freshmen Maurice Johnson, Anthony Mosley, and Stanley Rop placed eighth in their event scoring the first point for the Delta Devils at the 2019 SWAC Indoor Championships.
