JACKSON, Miss. – Next on this year's countdown of Mississippi Valley State's ten most memorable wins of the 2021-22 athletic calendar is win number six on the list as volleyball swept Tougaloo College for its first victory of the year, handing Head Coach
Mariah Prince her first coaching win against the school she spent two seasons playing for (setter).
The Devilettes came out of the blocks on fire in the first set, slamming down 13 kills with a sparkling 0.417 hitting percentage amid three errors.
Valley held the statistical edge or broke even in every category outside of blocks; points (38-31), kills (29-21), aces (7-7), assists (25-16), and digs (29-27) while notching a hitting percentage just under 100 points higher than the Lady Bulldogs (.171-.072).
Takiyah Flynn had the breakout performance of her freshman campaign, accounting for all 25 of the club's assists for a personal-best as well as three digs.
Destini Banks was the top point scorer for the Green and White ladies, producing season-bests for 11.5 points, 8 kills, and a pair of service aces.
Victoria Mallard broke her career benchmark with a half-dozen digs plus a season-high ten kills.
Kiya Garza played fantastic defense with a game-best 11 digs while
Chardea Berthelot tallied eight kills.
