RUSTON, La. – The Mississippi Valley State men's track and field set new personal records at the Jim Mize Invitational, hosted by Louisiana Tech at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex.
The Delta Devils' freshmen Terry Simmons (22.32), Jordan Robinson (23.16), and Stephen Banks (25.55) each set a new PR in 200m.
Robinson set another PR in the 400m, clocking a time of 51.10, and finished 5th.
Junior Lucas Banks set a new PR in Discus Throw with a distance of 42.58m and placed 4th.
Sophomore Calvin Adolph set a new PR in Hammer throw with a distance of 43.77m and finished 5th.
Men's Field Events
Junior Banks placed 4th in Discus Throw, with a throw of 42.58m.
Sophomore Adolph placed 5th in Hammer Throw with a throw of 42.77m, while Banks placed 7th with a distance of 32.03m.
Freshman Markeith Wilson placed 5th in High Jump with a distance of 1.65m.
Adolph placed 8th in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 38.18m.
Men's Running Events
Sophomore Desmond Ferrell finished 3rd in the 110m Hurdles, with a time of 15.06.
Freshman Robinson finished 5th in the 400m, with a time of 51.10.
Senior Jacob Bell finished 2nd in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 56.04.
Junior Daniel McDonald Hylton finished 9th in the 1500m, with a time of 4:35.88. Sophomore Elijah Edney trailed to place 10th, with a time of 4:40.10.
The 4x400 Relay teams placed 2nd and 3rd place. Team A (Johnson, Singleton, Robinson, and Bell) crossed the finish line to claim 2nd with a time of 3:28.89. Team B (Edney, Crawford, Simmons, and Maldonado) clocked 3:34.01 to claim 3rd place.
Up Next:
The Delta Devils Outdoor Track & Field will travel to Oxford, Miss. to compete in the Ole Miss Classic. The Ole Miss Classic will begin on Friday, March 26, and conclude on Saturday, March 25.
