ITTA BENA, Miss. – Next on this year's countdown of Mississippi Valley State's 15 most memorable individual moments of the 2021-22 athletic calendar is moment number 11 as senior pitcher
Daisy Page shut down the eventual SWAC East Champions.
The Devilettes offense could only muster three runs over 15 innings of softball in her two home starts against the Lady Wildcats but that was all the staff ace needed as she blanked Bethune-Cookman to bookend its three-game series with a pair of victories.
The All-SWAC Second Teamer tossed a season-high eight frames in the rubber game with more strikeouts (3) than hits and walks allowed combined (2) in a 1-0 walkoff win while her game one triumph was just as impressive with three Ks to go along with only three hits allowed on top of another walk-free outing.
The Alaskan native accounted for eight of the club's 11 pitching wins (72.7%), two of its three shutouts (66.7%) and just under half of the team's punchouts (54-of-109, 49.5%) with 13 complete games, a sparkling 2.73 ERA, plus a miniscule 0.249 batting average against.
