JACKSON, Miss. – Next on this year's countdown of Mississippi Valley State's 15 most memorable individual moments of the 2021-22 athletic calendar is moment number four as sophomore third baseman
Dreylin Holmes reached base safely for the 20th consecutive ballgame, launching a pair of round-trippers on April 10.
It is not very often that a student-athlete tops his performance the week after he wins Conference Hitter of the Week, but Holmes made a great case, capping off the Jackson State series with home runs number seven and eight during a 3-for-4, four RBI afternoon.
His third multi-homer affair of four on the campaign, the Rust College transfer eventually concluded the season with a program-best 12 long balls as well as leading the team for longest on-base streak (23), hitting streak (11), hits (45), runs scored (37), total bases (91), RBIs (33), doubles (8), homers (12), and walks (22) while hitting .302.
Holmes earned the respect on both the conference and national levels as he topped the SWAC in home runs per game (0.30) while garnering All-SWAC and Black College Nines Second Team honors.
